2:00pm Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party The Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party will be on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines at 12:30 pm. Clara, the Nutcracker Prince and numerous other cast members joined in the fun of a pre-performance tea party full of delicious snacks and storytelling.
About the 2008 production of Nutcracker A production team of 13 dance teachers from around the Des Moines area collaborate to stage this annual event which Artistic Director, Mary Joyce Lind has been directing for over 40 years. This year's cast of 218 dancers are trained at over 30 local studios. The Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier were danced in 2008 by guest artists, Mikhail Ronnikov and Diana Stetsura, who were trained in Russia and are now dancing professionally in the United States.
